Wanda Zagórska, painter associated with Częstochowa, arrived in the city in 1944 after the Warsaw Uprising. A pupil of Bolesław Rutkowski. In the 1940s, she worked as a reporter for 'Życie Częstochowa' and taught at the State Secondary School of Visual Arts. She created mainly landscapes and portraits, and in sacred art she is known as the author of numerous copies of the image of Our Lady of Częstochowa painted in tempera. Her works can be found in churches in Poland and in Paris, London, Rome, Naples and New York.
