The text presents the tombstone of Klementyna Hoffmanowa, née Tańska, which is located in the Pere La Chaise cemetery in Paris. It is also mentioned that Hoffmanowa has two monuments in France - one at Pere la Chaise, the other at Montmartre. A modernised reading of the text

Tombstone of Klementyna Hoffmanowa, née Tańska, at the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris.

Last year, in issues 106 and 107 of our journal, we gave an extensive biography of the author of 'Krystyna', together with an image of her. We now include an engraving depicting her tombstone in the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris. The top of the monument is crowned with a bust, under which the inscription reads: "To Klementyna z Tańscy Hoffmanowa, fellow countrymen"; below it two girls, symbolising that young generation to which the deceased devoted her entire life; between them an urn, listing her major works. On the upper cornice an inscription omitted from our drawing:

"All Polish children are my children".

On the central cornice:

"Mothers and children, say a prayer for her".

In France, two monuments have been erected to her, one at Père-Lachaise and the other at Montmartre; in our country, as yet, she has none. In the past year, the idea of erecting a monument to her from contributions has been mooted, and apparently even quite considerable sums of money have already been received for this purpose. We do not know what further work has been done to realise this project; we therefore recall it to the public as an unpaid debt of national gratitude.
