In the Montmartre cemetery in Paris, the work of Cyril Godebski.

A few weeks ago, a solemn dedication ceremony took place in Paris, in the Montmartre cemetery, for a monument erected in memory of the French poet, novelist and critic, Teofil Gautier, who died a few years ago.

Paris owes this beautiful tomb to our illustrious sculptor, Cyprian Godebski, whose chisel has already enriched both his own country and abroad with many works of art, and who now intends to settle permanently in Warsaw.

On a high, ornately carved marble base rests the figure of Poetry, holding a lute in his left hand and resting on a medallion with his right, encompassing a bust of the deceased poet in bas-relief. On the base is laid an inscription simple but eloquent precisely by its brevity:

HIS FRIENDS.

In addition to its solemnity, the whole work is distinguished by its taste and finish, qualities which characterise all the works of our illustrious countryman in general.
