Lower Castle in Vilnius

A note informs about an accidental encounter during sewage works with fragments of the walls of the Lower Castle in Vilnius in 1928. The castle was built during the reign of Alexander Jagiellon or Sigismund I the Old. Demolished by the Tsarist authorities between 1799 and 1803, it was rebuilt between 2002 and 2009. The information was published in the journal 'Sztuki Piękne',1927/1928, no. 6, p. 237 (public domain, reprinted after the Library of the University of Silesia, Katowice).
