Fryderyk Chopin (1810-1849), born in Żelazowa Wola, son of Mikołaj and Tekla Justyna, née Krzyżanowska. At the age of 4, he began taking piano lessons. By the time he was 7, he had already written several compositions. In 1818 his first public concert took place. From 1823 to 1826 he studied at the Warsaw Lyceum. And in 1826-1829 he was a student at the Warsaw School of Music. After his studies he left for Vienna. In 1931 he settled in Paris. He played many concerts there, which made a huge impact on the audience and brought him fame. He composed many works at this time. From 1946, he was already mainly composing, but he was also involved in the life of the Polish emigration. He financially supported the establishment of the Polish Polytechnic Society in Paris. From 1836 he was seriously ill with tuberculosis. In 1838 E. Delacroix began painting a portrait of Chopin with his partner George Sand, but it was not completed. After parting with Sand, Fryderyk left for England and Scotland in 1848. That same year, his last public concert took place. He died in Paris. He was one of the most outstanding composers and pianists of his era.
