Description of the treatment facility in Rožnov

The text mentions the Žetice healing facility in Rožnov, owned by the Polish-Czech count Eugeniusz Kijinský. The note describes the town itself, the healing establishment and its surroundings (Source: Tygodnik Illustrowany, Warsaw 1879, Series 3, T:7, p. 358, after: Digital Library of the University of Łódź).

A modernised reading of the text

Rożnów, a curing facility with a gyre in Moravia

In the east of Moravia, at the foot of the lofty and wide mountain Radohost, its shoulder sheltered from the cold north winds, lies the beautiful village of Rožnov, in German Rožnau, which forms a sort of peninsula, flanked by the River Bečva, flowing into the Morava River from the northeast, and the Hážówka stream from the west, in a delightful valley, surrounded by the evergreen chain of the wooded Beskydy Mountains.

Nature has richly gathered here all the conditions needed for a man weary of life and exhausted by illness to nourish his organism amidst the lush and fragrant mountain vegetation and lose the fetus of a terrible chest illness.
Rožnov pod Radhoštěm has only been known to the world as a healing place for the last thirty years, and the salutary effects of the revitalising air are attracting more and more sick people to the area. Thus: in 1852 there were 157 people, in 1871 - 1005, while this year 2000 people breathed in the scent of the forests and drank ¯êt¿êt¿e here, often with miraculous results.

Rožnov is privately owned by Count Eugene Klosný, has about 500 houses, comfortably and in some cases exquisitely furnished for guests, various bathing establishments, a large beautiful park at the foot of the mountains, a Catholic church, a very large hall, which can comfortably accommodate soup drinkers in rainy weather, with offices for reading newspapers, several well-stocked restaurants, excellent coffee - and the good-hearted, hospitable Moravian people do their best to satisfy the needs of their guests for very little money.

The only exclusive gynecological establishment is supervised by several physicians from Vienna and Prague, mostly under the direction of Dr František Klobowský, who is disinterested in and concerned about his patients.

Rožnov lies to the proverb:

"No one is a prophet in his own country",

So far, almost only Czechs and Germans have sought relief there, although more and more visitors come from Galicia and Warsaw, from the Danube countries and even from Odesa.
