Construction of Polish churches in Czechoslovakia

A press release mentioning the establishment of three churches in what was then Czechoslovakia - the first in Český Těšín, the second in Kozubová and the third in the village of Bukovec near Jablunkov (Source: "Ilustrowany Kurier Codzienny", Krakow 1936, no. 122, p. 8, after: Malopolska Biblioteka Cyfrowa).

A modernised reading of the text.

Poles in Czechoslovakia build three churches.

From Český Těšín reports (D): Polish Catholics in Zaolzie Silesia intend to start building three churches this year. In the course of the month of May, a ceremony will take place to lay the foundation stone for a branch church in Dabrowa Dolná, Karviná parish. There is an old wooden church there, no longer usable, and the Poles there, supported by Count Larish, have set about building a new church. The second church will be built on Kozinec, next to the Pol. Tow. Turyst. "Beskid". The construction of the church was initiated by the parish priest Rudolf Piosnek from Gnojnik, a passionate hiker and great lover of mountains. All the preparations have already been made and the funds are largely in place. In addition, the Polish Catholics of the mountain village of Bukovec near Jablunkov are busy raising funds for a branch church. A church is needed here because of the great distance from the parish church in Jablunkov. The tragedy is that the Bukovinians themselves are unable to build it with their own resources and are looking for a sacrificial hand. Because of the intransigence of the Czech Jesuits in Český Těšín towards the Poles and the futile demand for a priest of Polish nationality, it was decided to build a separate church, in which the Jesuits would have absolutely no interference. A committee has already been formed to prepare the construction as soon as possible, that is, within a few years.
