Grave of Polish Legion soldiers killed in 1914.

On 25-29 October 1914. The Polish Legions participated in battles against the Russian army in the vicinity of Solotvina, Zhurak, Babczy and Staruni. Many Polish soldiers were killed.
In the 20-year inter-war period, the Bohorodchansk-Solotvina committee exhumed the remains of the legionaries from the battle sites and placed them in a grave in the Solotvina cemetery on 25.09.1927. Representatives of the government, army and other delegations were present at the ceremony. A magnificent monument in the shape of a wall several metres high with a large eagle was erected on the grave, with a crypt styled on the facade of an ancient Greek temple. The inscriptions on the front of the monument proclaim: "Every threshold will be a stronghold for us" and "1914/27. To the Legionaries fallen for the freedom of the Fatherland in the fields of Solotwina, Markowa, Zurak and Babcha". On either side of these inscriptions were plaques with the names of 33 fallen legionaries.
During the Second World War the monument was destroyed down to its foundations. To date, it has not been established who was the perpetrator of the destruction.
In 2002, a cross with a plaque was erected on the site of the destroyed monument. Its erection was initiated by Piotr Lewicki, president of the "Opieka" club from Nadwórna. The inscription on the current commemoration reads: "To the heroes / of the Second Brigade of the Polish Legions / fallen for the freedom / of the Fatherland / in the fields / of Solotviny, Staruni, Zhurak, / Babcze in 1914. / T. from the funds of the inhabitants of Wołów".
The site is taken care of, financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the "Sites of National Remembrance Abroad" programme; a restoration of the commemoration, financed by the MKiDN, was carried out in 2022.
