Tereszki in Volhynia

The short text describes Tereszki, a village formerly belonging to the princes of Ostrog. The story of the handing over of the village by Janusz Sanguszko to Michal Grocholski hr Syrokoml, the spouse of Anna Radzimińska hr Lubicz, is mentioned. The history of the above-mentioned family, which existed until the time of writing, is further described. Also mentioned is the building of a chapel, now a church, in Tereszki (Source: "Ziemia. Tygodnik Krajoznawczy Ilustrowany', Warsaw 1910, no. 34, p. 7, after: Wielkopolska Biblioteka Cyfrowa).

Tereszki in Volhynia.

Tereszki, in the Starokonstantyn district of Volyn province, now a village of about a thousand inhabitants, was already known in the 16th century and belonged to the Ordynat of the Dukes of Ostrog. The last Ordynat, Janusz Sanguszko, by virtue of the so-called Kolbuszowa transaction in 1753, gave Tereszki and Maiki to Michał Grocholski, count Syrokomla, judge of Bracław, married to Anna Radzimińska, count Lubicz, who left a large number of children. Lubicz, who left numerous offspring, and from two of their sons descended two lines of the family: the older, so-called Voivodship line, from Marcin, Voivode of Bracław, of Hryców, Strzyżawa, Pietniczany etc., and the younger, miecznikkowska, Countess of Bracław, and a younger, sword-bearing one, from Franciszek, sword-bearer of the Crown, lord of Tereszki, Voronovica, Czerwona etc.

The sword-bearer married Helena Justyna Leśnicka, starostess of Żytomierz, who gave him the key of Norzyń, czerwoński and other properties. Sword-bearer was in great favour with Stanislaus Augustus, and it was at this court that the King visited him on 24 May 1788, generously and magnificently received, as Naruszewicz mentions in his 'Dyaryusz'. The swordsman left two sons: Antoni, the first marshal of the Old Constantine nobility, childless with Eleonora Bieszyńska, and Jan Nepomucen (1767-1849), whose son from his second marriage to Michalina Zeidlerówna, Władysław, still owns Tereszki. The chapel was built by the judge Michal, and in 1761 it became a branch of the parish of Basalisk. They are now building a large church in Tereszki.
