From the Polish Chronicles: consecration of the church in Orléans, S. Leszczyński plaque in Wisseburg

Excerpts from the Polish chronicles in the magazine 'Wieści z Polski'. This issue mentions the ceremony of the consecration of the church in Orléans, built thanks to Priests Chylaszek and Kandora. In France, a plaque commemorating King Stanisław Leszczyński was unveiled in Wisseburg. Mention is also made of the Polish colony in Sweden, where most Poles work in a factory producing ceramics (Source: "Wieści z Polski", Warsaw 1931, R: 5, no. 12, pp. 17-18, after: Jagiellonian Digital Library).

The consecration of the church in Orléans.

Thanks to the foresight of the Revs Chyłasz and Kandora, a church was erected in Orléans, the consecration of which took place in recent times. The ceremony brought together many Catholics, not only Poles themselves, and many Polish priests from all over Brazil. The ceremony was impressive.

France

Foreshadowing of the Polish-French ceremony A commemorative plaque was unveiled in Wissenburg. The Parisian 'Le Matin' reports that a ceremony will be held in Wissenburg on 8 November, in the presence of the Polish ambassador, to honour the memory of King Stanislaus Leszczyński, who lived in the town for a long time with his daughter Maria, until her accession to the French throne (in 1725).

On the front of the wing of the palace where King Stanislaus lived with his daughter (now housing the municipal poorhouse), a bronze plaque with an appropriate inscription has been erected. The unveiling took place in the presence of members of the "Society of the Friends of Poland in France", as well as the authorities of the City of Wissenburg, the Prefect of the Department of Bas-Rhin, Mr Roland-Marcel, the Governor of Strasbourg, General Brecard, Monsignore Ruch and numerous delegations. It should also be noted that Wissenburg has a museum containing memorabilia of King Leszczyński, as well as a chapel, built mainly through his efforts and at his expense.
