A note in the 'Artistic Chronicle' section informs of the passing of a budget by the Polish MInisterstwo Sztuki i Kultury for the construction of a monument to Adam Mickiewicz in Paris. The design was made before the First World War by Antoine Bourdelle. A modernised reading of the text

The matter of the Mickiewicz monument in Paris, based on the model completed before the war by the famous French sculptor Bourdelle, is well on the way, as, thanks to the efforts of the Director of the Department of Arts and Culture, Mr J. Skotnicki, which we are happy to emphasise, the Budget Committee has resolved to allocate 150,000 zlotys for this purpose.

As we all know, a model of the monument was disinterestedly made a dozen or so years ago by Mr Bourdelle, a great friend of the Poles, the city of Paris offered a beautiful site for the monument, and another 50,000 fr. (before the war) were needed to cast the monument in bronze and set it up. Unfortunately, however, there was no one in Polish aristocratic circles who, instead of "noir et rouge" in Monte, would have offered such a sum to erect a monument to our Bard.
