Sculptures by Magdalena Abakanowicz
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York houses three sculptures by Magdalena Abakanowicz:

• "Androgyne III" (1985)
• "Great Ursa" (1987)
• "Figure on a Trunk" (2000)

The first two works depict incomplete human figures that resemble works from the 'Back' series. What distinguishes them is that the sculptures in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection are not placed directly on the ground, as in the 'Backs' series, but are located successively on a tree trunk and on a wooden bench-like structure.

The final work, Great Ursa, is also a variation on one of Magdalena Abakanowicz's popular forms of expression. It is a tree trunk positioned on a metal stand, with metal guards at both ends.

Cameo with a portrait of Queen Bona Sforza
