Memorial plaque to John III Sobieski in the Augustinian Church in Vienna

The memorial plaque is located on the eastern wall of the Augustinian Church, which is part of the Hofburg complex - the residence of the Austrian rulers. It is dedicated to John III Sobieski, who took part in the mass after the expulsion of the Turkish army in 1683. Above the text is a medallion with a bust of the king. The inscription reads: JAN III. SOBIESKI / KÖNIG VON POLEN / OBERBEFEHLSHABER / DER VEREINIGTEN HEERE / BESUCHTE HIER / AM 13. SEPTEMBER 1683 / NACH DER BEFREIUNG WIENS / VON DEN TÜRKISCHEN BELAGERER DIE HEILIGE MESSE / KOMITEE <300 JAHRE ENTSATZ VOK WIEN / MIT KONIG JAN III. SOBIESKI> / SEPTEMBER 1683 //.

The plaque was founded by the Committee for the 300th anniversary of the Battle of Vienna in September 1983.
