A note reports the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the Pole on the facade of the house where Adam Mickiewicz died in 1855. It now houses the Adam Mickiewicz Museum in Istanbul. Unveiling of a plaque in honour of Mickiewicz.

A memorial plaque was unveiled on the front of the house where Adam Mickiewicz died in 1855. The house had at one time been purchased by the Ratyński family, who wished to preserve it as a national memorial.

The ceremony took place in front of a large gathering of the Polish colony, members of the Polish embassy and the Polish consul general, invited Turkish guests and representatives of the local press. The plaque featured Mickiewicz's likeness in bas-relief, the work of Polish sculptor Bilinski. An inscription in Polish is engraved under the bas-relief:

"To Our Bards Adam Mickiewicz on the anniversary of his death - Poles in Istanbul".

Below this is also a Turkish inscription:

"Adam Mickiewicz'un öldüğü menzilde - Istanbul Ikhliki".

During the ceremony, the Consul General, R. Wegnerowicz, delivered a commemorative speech in Polish and T. Gasztowtt in French. On the same day, a Solemn Academy was held at the Polish House at 17:00 in the afternoon.
